A night out with one of her very best friends was exactly what Brooke needed. While she truly did love being a mommy, sometimes it was nice just to take a quick break every now and then. Not that she was complaining, no way, she loved spending time with her little cookie monster. In fact, she spent pretty much all of her free time with Olivia, not going out and doing much anymore. Not that she ever really had in the first place; Brooke wasn’t really a party girl. She never had been. Unless you count the one night she went out, had way too much to drink and ended up with a daughter. That was when she kind of swore off drinking of any kind for the rest of her life. Of course she was very happy to have Olivia in her life, she was a blessing, but it hadn’t been planned and at first Brooke had not been ready. Hell, sometimes she still wonders if she’s ready, but she just takes things one day at a time. That’s all she could do.
Brooke walked into the restaurant that she was supposed to be meeting Emma at and went ahead and got them a table even though she didn’t see the girl yet. She sent the girl a quick text and let her know that she was there and where their table was located before picking up the menu to have a look at the options. Everything sounded wonderful, it had been a while since Brooke had been out to an actual sit down and eat restaurant. Olivia was still kind of all over the place when it came to sitting still. She liked to constantly be up and moving and Brooke did not feel like chasing her around a restaurant, so she wasn’t to the point yet that she was taking Olivia to them. This was a nice change from the normal drive thru that she would go through to grab her and Olivia a quick dinner.
The waiter came over and she ordered a glass of water before sitting the menu down and taking a look around the restaurant. A few couples looked to be on dates and Brooke sighed at the thought. She hadn’t been on one of those in… well, three years now. It was hard to find a man that was interested in a woman with a three year old daughter. Damn near impossible to be honest. A cute boy across the room caught her eye and she quickly averted his eyes and looked back down at the menu so that she wouldn’t make eye contact with him. Brooke was pretty sure that she had completely forgotten how to even flirt with someone. How sad.
